Time off

Ask for time off from your profile card or the Schedule, and whoever may approve time off says yes or no. Approved days sit on the Schedule, so everyone can see who is away.

Asking for time off

Press your picture at the foot of the sidebar and choose Apply for leave. Pick the Type — Vacation, Sick, Personal, Banked overtime, Unpaid leave or Other — and the Dates, from the first day to the last in one box, then Send request. The Time off card on your own member page asks the same.

On the Schedule, New entry ▸ Time off does it too, and so does a click on the hours: one day can be just a stretch of hours, and several days are whole days.

Someone who may approve time off books their own straight away — their button says Book leave — because there is nobody above them to ask.

Who approves it

Approving is a permission: Approve time off, under Time in a permission set. The owner and Administrators hold it. Everyone who holds it is told when someone asks, in the app and by email, and can approve or decline the request.

The requests still waiting are at the top of the Firm page, under Time off requests: each one is a card with who, which days and what kind, and its own Approve and Decline. Decline asks for a reason first, which the person will read; it is optional. See all opens every request in a window you can narrow with Filters, by person or by type. The notice about a request opens that window.

The person is told either way. A declined request stays in their list, crossed out, with the reason under the notice.

On the Schedule

Approved time off is drawn across the days someone is away; a request is not on the Schedule until it is approved. Leave for a few hours shades those hours behind the day, and in the Day view each teammate's heading says how long they are off. Work due while its person is away gets a quiet ring — a warning, never a block. Untick Time off in the side panel to hide it.

Away, when you assign work

In every assignee picker, a teammate who is off on the work's due day has a quiet Away beside their name, with the dates on hover. It never stops you from assigning them.

Taking time off back

Your profile card lists what is coming up and what was decided, and links to Manage your time off: the Time off card on your own member page. Only there does each one have its ×, and it asks Remove this time off? before anything goes. Someone who may approve time off can also remove a teammate's, from its card on the Schedule.

Overtime, and banked time taken

Insights ▸ Team Production shows each person's overtime over a period, beside the time off they took — Banked overtime counts there as overtime taken back as time off. The Insights article says how overtime is worked out.
