Reviewing a proposal before it goes out

Ask a teammate to look over a draft before the client sees it. They approve it or ask for changes, right on the proposal, and everyone involved is told.

A draft proposal can be reviewed by a teammate before you send it — a partner signing off on the price, or a second pair of eyes on the scope. The proposal stays a draft the whole time; the review is a stage of the draft, not a status of its own.

Asking for a review

  1. Open the draft proposal, then its More actions menu.
  2. Choose Request review.
  3. Pick the teammate under Assign to, and add an Internal note if there is something to look at.

Only your team ever sees the note. The teammate is told in the app, and by email if they have review emails switched on. Anyone who could not open this proposal — its client, or its job when that job is private — is greyed in the list with the reason, because they could not review what they cannot see.

Deciding, on the Review card

The proposal's page shows a Review card with who asked, who is reviewing, each step's note, and one line saying what happens next. The reviewer decides with its buttons:

  • Approve — the proposal is ready to send, and whoever asked is told.
  • Request change — say what needs to change; it goes back to whoever asked.
  • Reassign — hand the review to someone else. Clicking the reviewer's name does the same.

After changes, Request review again asks the same reviewer, already chosen. After an approval, Request another review starts a new round.

The teammate you asked can answer the review even if their permission set cannot draft proposals. Asking for a review needs the Create engagements permission.

Finding what is waiting

On the proposals list, the review sits beside each draft's status with the reviewer's face. Filter by Review or by Reviewer — You shows what is waiting on you. The Review and Reviewer columns can be switched on from the list's View menu.

Sending

A review never blocks sending. Sending the proposal, marking it lost or accepting it on the client's behalf ends the review; its history stays on the proposal's page.
